It took 19 of us to prepare this Final Grand Jury Report. We were chosen by lot and then cast together to function as a single body. We represent men (10) and women (9), seven of us are retired, two claim to be semi-retired, and ten of us are employed. Our combined work experience includes teachers, police officers, accountants, a retail clerk, lawyers, a CPA, analysts, a cable splicer, administrators, a typesetter, a business consultant, a builder and the former Mayor of Old Sacramento. We range in age from 30 to the middle 70's, with an average age of 55. We have all been longtime residents of the county with an average of close to 30 years.
We have a variety of outside interests with more than a third being golfers. We averaged 15-20 hours a week on Grand Jury business. Our political views covered a wide range as did our taste in music. But, in the end, this was a collaborative product of 19 people with diverse interests and backgrounds, who agreed to serve the people of our community as members of the 1996-1997 Sacramento County Grand Jury. We are thankful for the experience.
