Continuity Committee
The Continuity Committee concerns itself with the smooth transition from one Grand Jury to the next. Traditionally, one of the carry-over grand jury members acts as the chair of the Continuity Committee.
The responsibilities and duties of the Continuity Committee include, but are not limited to:
· Ensure grand jury protocol.
· Prepare and coordinate a comprehensive orientation program for succeeding grand jury members, including updating the grand jury handbook.
· Maintain and monitor the reference library, grand jury room, and other facilities.
· Update the grand jury investigation frequency chart.
· Organize a joint meeting with the previous and current grand juries to review the responses to previous grand jury recommendations.
· Coordinate grand jury events.
Each Grand Jury is an independent body and must make decisions and recommendations on the basis of its own investigations. However, it need not act in total isolation. The concept of continuity includes the orientation of the incoming Grand Jury by the outgoing Grand Jury.
